Description
The LBSCR built 120 of these 7-9-10-12ton vans between 1888 and 1908. Designed by Robert Billington to be an improvement on the vans built by Stroudly. 7 9ton vans, 89 10ton vans and 14 12ton vans were taken into Southern Rly ownership in 1923. The last van of the type was withdrawn by British railways in 1950 it has survived as the branch brake on the Hayling Island branch.
