Today we are pleased to announce that we have produced a new wagon kit. Its a Midland and Great Northern Joint Rly 3 plank drop-side. These wagons were used for general goods traffic and were also used by the Engineer’s Dept. as ballast wagons. They will be initially available as a kit or ready to run in 7mm and as a wagon body in 4mm. They will also be available in due course as a G1 1/32 kit and ready to run when our G1 range is launched in a few weeks time.
The cost for a 4mm wagon body will be £20, For a 7mm Kit £50 and for a 7MM RTR £150. G1 1/32 prices TBC
The product will go live on the website to order from 1500GMT today
I thought I would update everyone on progress on my new range of Australian wagons.
The 3D printer is here and it have been tested. The results have been very positive and the print quality is very high. So, with this in mind, I have changed how I’m going to do the kits. As you all, probably know I was going to print the bodies and have the strapping as a separate etch as I have done with most of our other 7mm kit. Now they are all going to be printed as complete blocks, including buffer guides and strapping. The plan to etch the axle guards and brakes stays the same as before. This means that I will not need to have extra tooling for other NSWGR wagons going forward. And this also gives an option to scale up (G1 1/32) or down (S or HO) the wagon bodies with little effort, if their is a demand.
So to start with these will be the kits.
NSWGR01 2 plank (D) drop side 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR02 2 plank (D) centre door 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR03 3 plank (D) drop side 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR04 3 plank (D) centre door 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR05 3 plank (D) centre door with extended raves for coke/shale/chip wood 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR06 3 plank (D) drop side 9ft Wheel base(fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR07 3 plank (D) centre door 9ft Wheel base(fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR08 3 plank (D) centre door with extended raves for coke/shale/chip wood 9ft Wheel base(fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR09 1 plank (A) fixed side 8ft6 Wheel base (unfitted)
I’m hoping to have the first batches of kits ready for shipping at the end of November/start of December so they can be with people by Christmas. If you do want any of the above for Christmas The last day for ordering will be Oct 31st as I need of order etches.
Other kits will be added to the range over time if there is a demand.
We were asked if we could produce some of our 7mm wagons in 4mm. So as of today where ever possible we will be scaling down our 7mm wagon and van bodies to 4mm.
The first 2 are a Furness/North Staffs 1 plank open and a LNWR/Furness/Cambrian/Mid-Wales 6ton single bolster.
If you have any requests for 4 mm wagons or vans that are currently in our 7mm range please contact us.
