New South Wales Government Railways Wagons

I thought I would update everyone on progress on my new range of Australian wagons.

The 3D printer is here and it have been tested. The results have been very positive and the print quality is very high. So, with this in mind, I have changed how I’m going to do the kits. As you all, probably know I was going to print the bodies and have the strapping as a separate etch as I have done with most of our other 7mm kit. Now they are all going to be printed as complete blocks, including buffer guides and strapping. The plan to etch the axle guards and brakes stays the same as before. This means that I will not need to have extra tooling for other NSWGR wagons going forward. And this also gives an option to scale up (G1 1/32) or down (S or HO) the wagon bodies with little effort, if their is a demand.

So to start with these will be the kits.
NSWGR01 2 plank (D) drop side 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR02 2 plank (D) centre door 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR03 3 plank (D) drop side 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR04 3 plank (D) centre door 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR05 3 plank (D) centre door with extended raves for coke/shale/chip wood 8ft6 Wheel base (fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR06 3 plank (D) drop side 9ft Wheel base(fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR07 3 plank (D) centre door 9ft Wheel base(fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR08 3 plank (D) centre door with extended raves for coke/shale/chip wood 9ft Wheel base(fitted or unfitted)
NSWGR09 1 plank (A) fixed side 8ft6 Wheel base (unfitted)

NSWGR 2 plank Drop-side ballast wagon (NSWGR01)
NSWGR D 2 Plank Centre Door (NSWGR02)
NSWGR D 3 plank Drop-side (NSWGR03/06)
NSWGR D 3 planks (NSWGR04/07)
NSWGR D Shale/Wood chip (NSWGR05/08)

I’m hoping to have the first batches of kits ready for shipping at the end of November/start of December so they can be with people by Christmas. If you do want any of the above for Christmas The last day for ordering will be Oct 31st as I need of order etches.

Other kits will be added to the range over time if there is a demand.

We are still operating

Despite of the lockdown we are still working although we are waiting for new supplies for some of our kits. Our suppliers are now all back up and running and we are hoping to have most things back in stock by the end of the month. We are also waiting on the delivery of our own 3D printer which should help some of our supply issues that we have had recently. I will try to keep the stock levels visible on the pages. If something is showing as a stock level 0 please ring or email as I can make in small batches.

On the show front we were booked to attend the GoG summer show at Doncaster which has been cancelled for obvious reasons. We are currently still booked for GuildEx20 Telford on the last weekend in August with both the trade stand and our New Micro layout “W C Boggs and Co” but I’m not over confident in the show going ahead.

We have a few new models coming out over the few months watch the relevant pages for launch dates

The future of the business

Due to a positive change in our family, I’m not going to be able to give the business my full time attention. We are therefore reducing the number of shows that we are going to attend in the next 10 months after this we will take stock of our situation and hopefully we can start attending shows again. We will still be attending the LNWR Society’s Kiddiminster show in July with our layout,  GOG GuildEx Telford in September with the stand and Warley NEC show with our layout, in November.

I will also be reducing the number of types of kits/ready to run products. Most of our kits are produced as limited additions, usually 30 wagons,  so I will not be retooling them once they have come to the end of their production run.

We will be still going to do mail order in this time and all ordered will be fulfilled but there may be some slight delays.

Kettering Show

I’m sorry to announce that due to a slipped a disc in my back I’m not going to be able to attend the Show on Saturday. I was hoping to make the show but my recovery has not been as fast as I was hoping.

We were hoping to show off our new venture of 3D printed wagons that will be available on our new Shapeways shop starting with a Mid-Wales/Cambrian 6ton Brake Van. In addition to this I was hoping to show off the new prototypes of our NER H2 0-6-0T, NER coaches, Taff Vale/Barry 5 plank open, Barry/Furness 5 plank open, LBSCR Brake Vans (4 and 6 Wheeled) and LBSCR 6 plank open.

If you were hoping to pick up kits from us if you contact us next week and I should be able to sort you out and post them out to you.

Again sorry for any inconvenience.
