Description

4091 of these vans were built by the GWR from 1888 to 1901 These were the GWR’s standard box van. The design was very popular especially in south wales as many of the small Welsh companies had vans built to this design with their own buffers and axle boxes added. This design was also used to build vans for private owners where they were used for transporting bagged material such as flour and cement. This design was used by the RCH for their standard Gunpowder van from 1904.
